This policy covers the Picture Puzzle, a puzzle game for Roku made by Gareth Jones (“we”, “us”).

Picture Puzzle collects as little as it needs, and there are no ads. You choose where your progress is kept: only on your Roku device, or online. If you choose online, all we hold is an anonymous ID (a one-way hash of your Roku account email), a random username and your puzzle results, plus the IP address our server sees when the app connects.

Information we collect

  • Puzzle results. The number of moves and time taken for each puzzle you complete. If you don’t share your email, these are saved only on your Roku device and are never sent to us. Roku devices have limited storage, so your device may run out of space for saved progress over time. If you share your email, your results are stored on our server.
  • Your Roku account email (optional). To keep your progress across devices and show you on the leaderboards, the app may ask to share your email through Roku’s own prompt. You can decline. If you agree, the email is turned into a one-way hash (your anonymous ID) on your device and then discarded. The email itself is never stored or sent to us.
  • Leaderboard username. If you share your email, our server gives you a randomly generated username (for example, “RedBraveBear381”). It is not based on your name or email.
  • Purchases. Premium upgrades are bought through Roku. Roku handles the payment; we only learn whether you own the upgrade, never your payment details.
  • Technical information. Like any internet service, our servers and image hosting see your device’s IP address when the app downloads puzzles or saves results.

How we use it

We use this information only to run the app: saving your progress, showing leaderboards and unlocking premium. There are no ads in the app, and we do not sell your information. We do not currently use analytics or crash-reporting services in the app.

The app relies on these services:

ServiceWhat it does
RokuAccount email prompt, payments
Our server (projects.gareth.co.uk)Stores your anonymous ID, username and puzzle results
Backblaze B2Hosts the puzzle images

Your choices

  • Don’t share your email. The app works fully without it. Your progress stays only on your device, which has limited storage, and you won’t appear on leaderboards.
  • Remove your local data. Uninstalling the app from your Roku removes the progress saved on the device.
  • Delete your server data. Contact us and we will delete your anonymous ID, username and results.

Children

The app does not collect personal information from children. The anonymous ID cannot be used to identify anyone.
